Then the squad of troops and the military commander,1 as well as those officials of the Jews, took Jesus and bound him.

Dear Friends of the Nazarene,
We choose John 18:12 as the theme verse of chapter eighteen – The Arrest and Trial of Jesus. Judas and a squad of troops come to arrest Jesus in the garden. [1-5] Jesus states that he has lost none of those God gave to him. [6-9] Peter attacks Malchus with his sword. [10, 11] The Master is first led off to the Jewish priest Annas. [12-14] Peter denies Christ the first time. [15-18]
Jesus offers a defense before Annas and then is sent to the high priest. [19-24] Peter denies Jesus two more times. [25-27] They take Jesus from Caiaphas to Pilate. [28-32] Jesus tells Pilate that his kingdom is not of the world. [33-37] Jesus explains that he came into the word to testify about the truth. Pilate states that Christ is innocent. [38-40]
Abba our Father bless those who confess Christ.
