And the angel showed me a River of Life.1 [Zechariah 14:8] It was crystal clear.
| 1 | River of Life: Zechariah 14:8 has this, ‘And in that Day living water shall come forth out of Jerusalem.’ This establishes the prophetic contexts of both Zechariah and the Apocalypse here. In Zechariah it is clearly in the land of Israel. |
Dear Friends of the Nazarene,
We choose Revelation 22:1 as the theme verse of chapter twenty-two – The Healing of the nations. Christ’s angel shows John “a river of life.” [1, 2] It flows out from the source with New Jerusalem – God Almighty and the Lamb. The river waters produce trees of life which lead to the healing of the nations. John now beholds the citizens of New Jerusalem. [3-5] These kings see God’s face and are illuminated by Him.
What was said in the introduction of Revelation is now repeated. [6, 7] Blessed with divine favor are those who observe what is written in the Book. John is now overcome but warned to worship only The God. [8, 9] The angel tells John not to seal the prophecy. [10, 11] The angel next speaks for Jesus. [12] Christ announces his coming will be sudden and then he will judge “giving back to each one according to his works.”
The apocalyptic angel now speaks for God Almighty. [13-15] Blessed are those who wash their robes so they may go to the trees of life. Those unworthy to enter the City remain outside. Then by his angel Jesus speaks again identifying himself as the root of David and bright morning star. [16] The Bride and prophetic spirit now speak and invite all who will to come and drink life’s water free. [17]
The angel now speaks for Christ who gives a warning regarding the book of Revelation. [18-20] Those who add or remove from the “little Bible” will experience the foretold plagues. He promises to come suddenly. Finally John concludes Revelation by saying, “Amen! Come, Master Jesus.”
Abba our Father bless those who observe the words of Revelation.
