Locate verse: Type a verse reference like 'Romans 10:9' or abbreviated 'Rm 10:9'. By just typing the verse one can jump to the corresponding verse on the active page (only works if the current page displays a chapter). If a chapter and a verse is entered without a book, the current selected book is assumed. Providing only the name of a book will bring one to the chapter index of that book. Examples (without the quotes): '1 Tim 3:16', 'Rv 1:8', 'Matthew 5', '3:16', '8', 'Phm'.

PSALMS (1-24, 26)

PSALM 3:
SALVATION BELONGS TO YEHOWAH

[A hymn of David when he escaped from his son Absolom. (2 Samuel 15:14)]

PS3:1 Yehowah, how my adversaries have multiplied! Crowds rise against me! PS3:2 Crowds tell me: “God 32 will never save him!” [Selah] 33
32 God: This is the first occurrence of the 560 uses of “God” in the Psalms. Generally the Hebrew is ELOHIM [the plural of majesty] but on occasion the singular form ELOAH is used. [EL]
33 Selah: A Hebrew musical term of uncertain meaning. Some believe it indicates a pause.

PS3:3 But You, Yehowah, are my shield! My glory! The One who raises my head! PS3:4 Unto Yehowah I cry with my voice! And He has answered me from His holy mountain. [Selah]

PS3:5 I laid down to sleep and then awoke! Surely Yehowah sustains me! PS3:6 Thousands of people will not frighten me! My opposers have surrounded me. PS3:7 Rise, Yehowah! My God, save me! Surely you will strike all my enemies on the cheek. 34 You will shatter the teeth of the lawless.
34 Strike all my enemies on the cheek: Or, NEB: across the face; SPR: with a jaw-bone; MOF: disable; HAR: deal my enemies a decisive blow.
PS3:8 Salvation belongs to Yehowah! Continue to place a blessing upon Your people! [Selah]
