Locate verse: Type a verse reference like 'Romans 10:9' or abbreviated 'Rm 10:9'. By just typing the verse one can jump to the corresponding verse on the active page (only works if the current page displays a chapter). If a chapter and a verse is entered without a book, the current selected book is assumed. Providing only the name of a book will bring one to the chapter index of that book. Examples (without the quotes): '1 Tim 3:16', 'Rv 1:8', 'Matthew 5', '3:16', '8', 'Phm'.

PSALMS (1-24, 26)

PSALM 5:
A MORNING PRAYER

[A hymn of David]

PS5:1 O Yehowah, listen to my words. Understand the prayer under my voice. PS5:2 Pay attention to my crying voice, my King, my God, for it is to You I pray. PS5:3 O Yehowah, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will prepare and keep watch. PS5:4 For you are not a God who is pleased with lawlessness. And error can never be a guest of yours. PS5:5 Braggarts 38 will never be stationed in Your sight. You hate all workers of immorality. 39
38 Braggarts: Or, foolish, arrogant, proud, boasters, proud sinners.
39 Immorality: Or, iniquity, wrongdoer, evildoers.
PS5:6 You will destroy those who speak lies. Yehowah abhors the person guilty of bloodshed and deceit. PS5:7 But in the wealth of Your covenant-loyalty 40 I will enter Your house. I will prostrate myself toward your holy sanctuary in reverence to you.
40 Covenant-loyalty: Or, mercy, lovingkindness, unfailing love, steadfast love, great generosity.
PS5:8 O Yehowah, because of my enemies lead me in your righteousness. Make my way smooth before You. PS5:9 For nothing from his mouth can be trusted. Their inner motivation 41 is an all-consuming disaster. Their throat is an open grave. They tongues speak smoothly. [Romans 3:13]
41 Inner motivation: Or, inward part, inward purpose, heart, motives.
PS5:10 O God, pronounce them guilty. Let them stumble as a result of their own counsels. Hurl them into the multitude of their own transgressions. For they have rebelled against You. PS5:11 Then everyone who seeks refuge in You may rejoice. For unknown ages they will shout in triumph because You protected them. All those who love Your Name will leap for joy. PS5:12 For you will bless the law-abiding 42 person, O Yehowah. You will surround them with Your good pleasure like a large shield.
42 Law-abiding: Or, righteous.
