ECCLESIASTES

INTRODUCTION

Most people have asked themselves, “Why am I here? What is my purpose in life? What is God’s purpose for me?” One of the wisest kings of ancient times answers those questions in Ecclesiastes. Ecclesiastes is most timely in our modern world here at the beginning of the 3rd Millennium. It is particularly helpful to the young who want to know about life and serving God. Solomon the Public Speaker outlines three divine principles:

  • Life on earth tends toward a struggle in complete futility [Romans 8:20];
  • The worthwhile life is one that enjoys what one has; and,
  • In the end all will be judged by their conduct by The God [Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14; Romans 2:16]

Solomon splashes his palette with wise proverbs for daily life throughout his sermon.
