THE PROPHET JOEL

CHAPTER TWO:
REPENTANCE LEADS TO AN OUTPOURING OF GOD’S SPIRIT

Summary

A devouring army consumes everything. The strength of the soldiers is described. Celestial darkness accompanies the Day of YHWH. There is a call to national repentance and conversion which leads to an outpouring of God’s spirit. Those who call on YHWH will be saved.

Joel 2:1-3 – A Devouring Army

JL2:1 Blow the trumpet in Zion. Sound the alarm in My holy mountain. Let all the land’s inhabitants tremble, for the Day of YeHoWaH approaches – it is near! 26
26 Blow the trumpet in Zion. Sound the alarm in My holy mountain. Let all the land’s inhabitants tremble, for the Day of YeHoWaH approaches – it is near: Or, DAR: Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is at hand; YLT: For coming is the day of Jehovah, for it is near. [See notes on 2 Thessalonians 2:2; James 5:8]
JL2:2 a dark Day of thick gloom, a cloudy Day of dense darkness. Just like a bleak dawn spreading over the mountain-tops 27 – a people numerous and valiant, unlike anything that has existed from time immemorial. And like nothing that will occur again throughout the coming years of generations. 28
27 A dark Day of thick gloom. A cloudy Day of dense darkness. Just like a bleak dawn spreading over the mountain-tops: Or, JPS: A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as blackness spread upon the mountains; LXX: for a day of darkness and gloominess is near, a day of cloud and mist. [Jeremiah 13:16; Amos 4:13; 5:18; Zephaniah 1:15]
28 A people numerous and valiant, unlike anything that has existed from time immemorial. And like nothing that will occur again throughout the coming years of generations: Or, JPS: a great people and a mighty, there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, even to the years of many generations; LXX: a numerous and strong people shall be spread upon the mountains as the morning; there has not been from the beginning one like it, and after it there shall not be again even to the years of many generations. Return to Joel 1:6.
JL2:3 In front of them a devouring fire, and following them a consuming flame. A land like the Garden of Eden in front of them, and behind them the most scorched desert. Indeed, nothing survives. 29
29 In front of them a devouring fire, and following them a consuming flame. A land like the Garden of Eden in front of them, and behind them the most scorched desert. Indeed, nothing survives: Or, JPS: A fire devoureth before them, and behind them a flame blazeth; the land is as the garden of Eden [‘EDEN] before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing escapeth them; LXX: Before them is a consuming fire, and behind them is a flame kindled: the land before them is as a paradise [PARADEISOS] of delight, and behind them a desolate plain: and there shall none of them escape. Return to Joel 1:19. On Eden see Genesis 2:8; Isaiah 51:3.

Joel 2:4-9 – The Over-powering Soldiers

JL2:4 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses 30 [Revelation 9:7], and so they run like war-horses.
30 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses: Or, JPS: Their appearance is as the appearance of horses; LXX: As the appearance of horses is its appearance. The LXX Greek is HOS HORASIS HIPPON HE HORASIS AUTON and the wording of Revelation 9:7 is similar in idea: KAI TA HOMOIOMATA TON ACRIDON [locusts] HOMOIA HIPPOIS [and the likenesses of the locusts like unto horses].
JL2:5 They sound like chariots bounding on mountain-tops as they rattle along. They make the sound of a burning fire devouring dry straw, like a valiant people armed for war. 31 [Revelation 9:7]
31 They sound like chariots bounding on mountain-tops as they rattle along. They make the sound of a burning fire devouring dry straw, like a valiant people armed for war: Or, JPS: Like the noise of chariots, on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a mighty people set in battle array; LXX: As the sound of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, and as the sound of a flame of fire devouring stubble, and as a numerous and strong people setting themselves in array for battle. The LXX Greek is PARATASSOMENOS EIS POLEMON while Revelation 9:7 uses HETOIMASMENOIS EIS POLEMON.
JL2:6 Because of them peoples will be in anguish, all faces contorted with pain. 32
32 Because of them peoples will be in anguish, all faces contorted with pain: Or, JPS: At their presence the peoples are in anguish; all faces have gathered blackness; LXX: Before them shall the people be crushed: every face shall be as the blackness of a caldron. [Nahum 2:10]
JL2:7 They run like valiant men, climbing a wall courageously, each and everyone follows his own track, not altering their attack. 33
33 7 They run like valiant men, climbing a wall courageously, each and everyone follows his own track, not altering their attack: Or, JPS: They run like mighty men, they climb the wall like men of war; and they move on every one in his ways, and they entangle not their paths; LXX: As warriors shall they run, and as men of war shall they mount on the walls; and each shall move in his right path, and they shall not turn aside from their tracks. [Proverbs 30:27]
JL2:8 Not one jostles a fellow, each one marches in his own path, not altering course though a fellow falls around them. 34
34 Not one jostles a fellow, each one marches in his own path, not altering course though a fellow falls around them: Or, JPS: Neither doth one thrust another, they march every one in his highway; and they break through the weapons, and suffer no harm; LXX: and not one shall stand aloof from his brother: they shall go on weighed down with their arms, and they fall upon their weapons, yet shall they in no wise be destroyed.
JL2:9 They rush into the city, running along the walls, climbing over houses, they enter through windows like unexpected thieves. 35
35 They rush into the city, running along the walls, climbing over houses, they enter through windows like unexpected thieves: Or, JPS: They leap upon the city, they run upon the wall, they climb up into the houses; they enter in at the windows like a thief; LXX: They shall seize upon the city, and run upon the walls, and go up upon the houses, and enter in through the windows as thieves.

Joel 2:10, 11 – Celestial Darkness on the Day of YeHoWaH

JL2:10 Before them the ground quakes [Revelation 6:12] and the sky trembles. 36 [Luke 21:26] The sun and moon darken and the stars retract their illumination. 37 [Revelation 6:12, 13]
36 Before them the ground quakes [Revelation 6:12] and the sky trembles: Or, JPS: Before them the earth quaketh, the heavens tremble; LXX: Before them the earth shall be confounded, and the sky [HO OURANOS] shall be shaken [SESTHESETAI]. The phrase “the ground quakes” and the celestial phenomenon in the next phrase are echoed in Revelation 6:12, 13. The phrase “the sky [heavens] tremble” may be echoed in Luke 21:26 – TON OURANON SALEUTHESONTAI. [Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance #4531, 4535]
37 The sun and moon darken and the stars retract their illumination: Or, JPS: the sun and the moon are become black, and the stars withdraw their shining; LXX: the sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their light YLT: Sun and moon have been black. The imagery of celestial phenomenon is associated with the Return of Christ. [See notes on Matthew 24:29; Luke 21:25; Revelation 6:12, 13.] Compare Joel 2:31 and Acts 2:20. See notes on Isaiah 13:10, 13. The LXX Greek is HO HELIOS KAI HE SELENE SYSKOTASOUSI. Matthew 24:29 uses HO HELIOS SKOTISTHESETAI [the sun will be darkened]. Revelation 6:12 uses HO HELIOS EGENETO MELAS [the sun became black].
JL2:11 And YeHoWaH will utter His Voice before His [celestial] armies, for His encampment is innumerable. 38 For the one who executes His word is mighty indeed. 39 Because the Day of YeHoWaH is great and exceedingly awesome. 40 Who can stand before it? 41 [Revelation 6:17]
38 And YeHoWaH will utter His Voice before His [celestial] armies, for His encampment is innumerable: Or, DAR: And Jehovah uttereth his voice before his army; for his camp is very great; YLT: And Jehovah hath given forth His voice before His force, For very great is His camp. Compare the LXX Greek PAREMBOLE with PAREMBOLEN at Revelation 20:9.
39 For the one who executes His word is mighty indeed: Or, LXX: for the execution of his words is mighty. Compare Hebrews 1:1-3.
40 Because the Day of YeHoWaH is great and exceedingly awesome: Or, DAR: for the day of Jehovah is great and very terrible; YLT: For great is the day of Jehovah—very fearful. [Jeremiah 30:7; Zephaniah 1:15] The LXX Greek is DIOTI MEGALE HE HEMERA KYRION and is echoed in Revelation 6:17 – HE HEMERA HE MEGALE. Note, however, that in Revelation 6:17 two persons are included – the Enthroned One and the Lamb.
41 Who can stand before it: Or, DAR: and who can bear it; JPS: and who can abide it; LXX: and who shall be able to resist it. [Numbers 24:23; Nahum 1:6] The LXX Greek is KAI TIS ESTAI HICANOS AUTE while Revelation 6:17 uses KAI TIS DYNATAI STATHENAI. Compare the STATHENAI in Luke 21:36. It cannot be ignored that in Joel 2:11 there is “the One who executes His word” and this may allude to the Son of Humankind in Luke 21:36 and the Lamb in Revelation 6:17.

Joel 2:12-14 – A Call to Repentance

JL2:12 But now, declares YeHoWaH, return to me with all your heart – with fasting, with weeping, and with expressions of sorrow. 42
42 But now, declares YeHoWaH, return to me with all your heart – with fasting, with weeping, and with expressions of sorrow: Or, DAR: Yet even now, saith Jehovah, turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning; YLT: And also now—an affirmation of Jehovah, Turn ye back unto Me with all your heart, And with fasting, and with weeping, And with lamentation. [Ezra 10:1; is 22:12; Jeremiah 4:1; Hosea 12:6; 14:1] Note the LXX Greek KAI EN KLAUTHMO with KAI KLAUSATE at James 4:9.
JL2:13 Tear your hearts apart and not just your garments. 43 Return to YeHoWaH your God, for He is full of unmerited charity and compassion, patient and long-suffering, abounding in empathic kindness, and is moved to pity when calamity occurs. 44
43 Tear your hearts apart and not just your garments: Or, JPS: And rend your heart, and not your garments; LXX: and rend your hearts, and not your garments. [Psalm 34:18; 51:17; Isaiah 57:15]
44 Return to YeHoWaH your God, for He is full of unmerited charity and compassion, patient and long-suffering, abounding in empathic kindness, and is moved to pity when calamity occurs: Or, DAR: and turn unto Jehovah your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great loving-kindness, and repenteth him of the evil; YLT: And turn back unto Jehovah your God, For gracious and merciful is He, Slow to anger, and abundant in kindness, And He hath repented concerning the evil. The language is borrowed from Exodus 34:6. [Numbers 14:18] On “returning to Jehovah” see Deuteronomy 4:30; 30:10; 2 Chronicles 30:6, 9; 36:13; Isaiah 19:27; 55:7; Hosea 6:1.
JL2:14 Who knows whether He will turn around and be moved to pity, leaving behind Himself a blessing, a grain-offering and a drink-offering to your God? 45
45 Who knows whether He will turn around and be moved to pity, leaving behind Himself a blessing, a grain-offering and a drink-offering to your God: Or, DAR: Who knoweth? He might return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, an oblation and a drink-offering for Jehovah your God; YLT: Who knoweth—He doth turn back, Yea—He hath repented, And He hath left behind Him a blessing, A present and libation of Jehovah your God. [2 Chronicles 30:8; Jeremiah 18:8; Jonah 3:9]

Joel 2:15, 16 – Gather an Assembly

JL2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion! Consecrate a fast. Call together a holy convention. 46
46 Blow the trumpet in Zion! Consecrate a fast. Call together a holy convention: Or, JPS: Blow the horn [SHOFAR] in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly; LXX: Sound the trumpet in Sion, sanctify a fast, proclaim a solemn service. Return to Joel 1:14; 2:1.
JL2:16 Gather the people. Consecrate a congregated multitude. Assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing babies. Let the bridegroom come out of his bed-chamber, and the bride from her bridal-tent. 47
47 Gather the people. Consecrate a congregated multitude. Assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing babies. Let the bridegroom come out of his bed-chamber, and the bride from her bridal-tent: Or, DAR: gather the people, hallow the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride from her closet; JPS: Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride out of her pavilion; LXX: gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the infants at the breast: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber [COITONOS], and the bride [NYMPHE] out of her closet. Note the word COITE at Hebrews 13:4.

Joel 2:17-20 – National Repentance

JL2:17 Let the priests and the ministers weep between the Porch and the Altar. Let them say, “O YeHoWaH, look upon Your people with compassion. Do not cause Your Inheritance to be a disgrace - that the national groups should ridicule them. Why should they say, ‘Where is their God?’ 48 JL2:18 Then YeHoWaH became possessive for His land, and felt compassion for His people. 49
49 Then YeHoWaH became possessive for His land, and felt compassion for His people: Or, DAR: Then Jehovah will be jealous for his land, and will have pity on his people. [Psalm 103:13; Zechariah 1:14; 8:2]
JL2:19 Then YeHoWaH responded and told His people: “Watch me! I will send you grain, new wine and oil, so you will be completely satisfied. No longer will I make you an object of ridicule among all the national groups. 50
50 Then YeHoWaH responded and told His people: “Watch me! I will send you grain, new wine and oil, so you will be completely satisfied. No longer will I make you an object of ridicule among all the national groups: Or, DAR: And Jehovah will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I send you corn, and new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations. [Isaiah 62:8]
JL2:20 I will remove the northern peoples far away from you, driving them into a parched and desolate land facing an eastern sea and their back toward a sea behind. A foul odor will rise from them - a stench ascending – because [YeHoWaH] has demonstrated a great performance.” 51
48 Let the priests and the ministers weep between the Porch and the Altar. Let them say, “O YeHoWaH, look upon Your people with compassion. Do not cause Your Inheritance to be a disgrace - that the national groups should ridicule them. Why should they say, ‘Where is their God: Or, DAR: Let the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare, O Jehovah, thy people, and give not thine inheritance to reproach, that they should be a byword of the nations. Wherefore should they say among the peoples, Where is their God; YLT: Between the porch and the altar weep let the priests, ministrants of Jehovah, And let them say: ‘Have pity, O Jehovah, on Thy people, And give not Thy inheritance to reproach, To the ruling over them of nations, Why do they say among peoples, Where is their God. Note the Mosaic Curse at Deuteronomy 28:37. [Psalm 44:14]
51 20 I will remove the northern peoples far away from you, driving them into a parched and desolate land facing an eastern sea and their back toward a sea behind. A foul odor will rise from them - a stench ascending – because [YeHoWaH] has demonstrated a great performance: Or, JPS: But I will remove far off from you the northern one, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the eastern sea, and his hinder part toward the western sea; that his foulness may come up, and his ill savour may come up, because he hath done great things; YLT: And the northern I put far off from you, And have driven him unto a land dry and desolate, With his face unto the eastern sea, And his rear unto the western sea, And come up hath his stink, And come up doth his stench, For he hath exerted himself to work. [Isaiah 34:3; Jeremiah 1:14; Ezekiel 47:18]

Joel 2:21-27 – My People Will not be Ashamed Forever

JL2:21 O Soil, do not be afraid. Triumph and rejoice, because YeHoWaH has demonstrated mighty deeds. 52
52 O Soil, do not be afraid. Triumph and rejoice, because YeHoWaH has demonstrated mighty deeds: Or, DAR: Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for Jehovah doeth great things; YLT: Do not fear, O land! joy and rejoice, For Jehovah hath exerted Himself to work. [Psalm 126:3]
JL2:22 O animals of the field, do not be afraid, for the desert pasture lands have sprouted. The fruit trees have been productive, the fig-tree and vineyard have produced vigorously. 53
53 O animals of the field, do not be afraid, for the desert pasture lands have sprouted. The fruit trees have been productive, the fig-tree and vineyard have produced vigorously: Or, DAR: Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring; for the tree beareth its fruit; the fig-tree and the vine yield full increase. [Isaiah 30:23; Zechariah 8:12]
JL2:23 Triumph then, you children of Zion, and be satisfied by YeHoWaH your God. For He has given you the harvest rains in proper measure. Indeed, He has caused a downpour of harvest rain to descend on you in the autumn and the spring. 54
54 Triumph then, you children of Zion, and be satisfied by YeHoWaH your God. For He has given you the harvest rains in proper measure. Indeed, He has caused a downpour of harvest rain to descend on you in the autumn and the spring: Or, DAR: And ye, children of Zion, be glad and rejoice in Jehovah your God; for he giveth you the early rain in due measure, and he causeth to come down for you the rain, the early rain, and the latter rain at the beginning of the season; YLT: And ye sons of Zion, joy and rejoice, In Jehovah your God, For He hath given to you the Teacher for righteousness, And causeth to come down to you a shower, Sprinkling and gathered—in the beginning. [Leviticus 26:4; Deuteronomy 11:14; Zechariah 10:1; James 5:7]
JL2:24 And so the threshing-floors will be filled with grain, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil. 55
55 And so the threshing-floors will be filled with grain, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil: Or, DAR: And the floors shall be full of corn, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. [Leviticus 26:10; Proverbs 3:10]
JL2:25 Then I will repay you for all the years devoured by all the locusts in their stages of growth – even My great army that I sent among all of you. 56
56 Then I will repay you for all the years devoured by all the locusts in their stages of growth – even My great army that I sent among all of you: Or, DAR: And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, my great army which I sent among you; LXX: And I will recompense you for the years which the locust, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, and the cankerworm have eaten, even my great army, which I sent against you. Return to Joel 1:4.
JL2:26 You will eat – eating to satisfaction – praising the Name of YeHoWaH your God who has dealt with all of you in such a wondrous manner. So My People will not be ashamed throughout all future periods of time. 57
57 You will eat – eating to satisfaction – praising the Name of YeHoWaH your God who has dealt with all of you in such a wondrous manner. So My People will not be ashamed throughout all future periods of time: Or, DAR: And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of Jehovah your God, who hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed; YLT: And ye have eaten, eating and being satisfied, And have praised the name of Jehovah your God, Who hath dealt with you wonderfully, And not ashamed are My people to the age. [Leviticus 26:5]
JL2:27 Then you will all realize that I am among you, and that I YeHoWaH am your God – none other – and that My People will not be ashamed throughout all future periods of time. 58
58 Then you will all realize that I am among you, and that I YeHoWaH am your God – none other – and that My People will not be ashamed throughout all future periods of time: Or, DAR: And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I, Jehovah, am your God, and there is none else: and my people shall never be ashamed; YLT: And ye have known that in the midst of Israel am I, And I am Jehovah your God, and there is none else, And not ashamed are My people to the age. [Psalm 46:5; Ezekiel 37:26]

Joel 2:28-32 – An Outpouring of Spirit

JL2:28 Finally, it will happen that I will pour out My spirit 59 upon human flesh. Then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 60
59 I will pour out My spirit: God’s “spirit” is the mental pressure of His Mind to force His purpose along. For details on holy Pneuma [holy spirit] see notes on 1 Corinthians 2:16 and the Biblical Article God’s Spirit and You. [Compare portions in the book Error of the Trinity]
60 Finally, it will happen that I will pour out My spirit upon human flesh. Then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions: Or, DAR: And it shall come to pass afterwards that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; JPS: And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; LXX: And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh. The verse is quoted by Peter at Acts 2:17. [Isaiah 44:3; Ezekiel 39:29] Peter applies the verse to the disciples in the early Nazarene community on the Day of Pentecost. See notes on Acts 2:17. Note that though the spirit is poured out on all flesh with Jewish sons and daughters prophesying, it is older men who dream dreams and young men who see visions. Regarding vision[s] compare Acts 9:10, 12; 10:3, 17, 19; 11:5; 12:9; 16:9, 10; 18:9; 2 Corinthians 12:1; Revelation 9:17. On the subject of prophets and prophesy see notes on Romans 12:6; 1 Corinthians 12:10, 28; Ephesians 4:11. {Acts 21:9] At Acts 2:17 Peter uses the words “last days” [ESCHATAIS HEMERAIS] though such a term is not used in Acts 2:17. There are two possibilities: a] Peter does not include “last days” in his quotation but refers to his own period of time; or, b] he paraphrases the Hebrew ‘ACHAR [Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance #310, after the following part, behind (of place), hinder, afterwards (of time)] as meaning “last days.”
JL2:29 In addition during those days I will pour out My spirit upon male-servants and female-servants. 61
61 In addition during those days I will pour out My spirit upon male-servants and female-servants: Or, YLT: And also on the men-servants, and on the maid-servants, In those days I do pour out My Spirit. The verse is quoted by Peter at Acts 2:18. For details on God’s Spirit see the Biblical Article God’s Spirit and You.
JL2:30 I will provide celestial phenomenon, and upon the earth blood, fire and columns of smoke. 62
62 I will provide celestial phenomenon, and upon the earth blood, fire and columns of smoke: Or, JPS: And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke; LXX: And I will shew wonders in heaven, and upon the earth, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. The verse is quoted at Acts 2:19. The words were fulfilled upon Jerusalem in 70 AD when columns of smoke from the burning city obscured the sun, turned the moon blood-red.
JL2:31 During the presence of the great and awesome Day of YeHoWaH the sun will darken and the moon will turn blood-red. 63
63 During the presence of the great and awesome Day of YeHoWaH the sun will darken and the moon will turn blood-red: Or, DAR: The sun shall be changed to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah come; YLT: The sun is turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, Before the coming of the day of Jehovah, The great and the fearful. The Hebrew for “coming” [or, arrival, presence] is BOW’ [Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance #935]. The LXX Greek is ELTHEIN a synonym for PAROUSIA in Mark 13 and Luke 21.
JL2:32 It will certainly happen that whoever calls on the name of YeHoWaH will escape. 64 [Acts 2:17-21] For a remnant in Mount Zion 65 [Revelation 14:1] and Jerusalem will escape - just as YeHoWaH has declared – among all the survivors whom YeHoWaH is calling. 66
64 It will certainly happen that whoever calls on the name of YeHoWaH will escape: Or, DAR: And it shall be that whosoever shall call upon the name of Jehovah shall be saved; YLT: And it hath come to pass, Every one who calleth in the name of Jehovah is delivered. The verse is quoted by Peter at Acts 2:21 and Paul at Romans 10:13. In both cases the Society for distributing the Hebrew Scriptures inserts the Hebrew YHWH for KYRIOU. Those upon whom Jehovah pours out His Pneuma must be identified by the use of the Divine Name, YHWH [Yehowah, Jehovah, Yahweh].
65 A remnant in Mount Zion: Such a remnant of end-time Saints are described in Revelation 14:1. [Revelation 12:17]
66 Jerusalem will escape - just as YeHoWaH has declared – among all the survivors whom YeHoWaH is calling: Or, DAR: Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Jehovah hath said, and for the residue whom Jehovah shall call; LXX: whom the Lord has called [PROSKEKLETAI]. Compare the EKLEKTOUS at Matthew 24:22.
