THE PROPHET MALACHI
The final Hebrew prophet in the Old Testament, Malachi, utters a powerful condemnation of the Jewish priesthood and nation. Thanks to allusions of Malachi by several persons in the Christian Bible we can understand that the main thrust of this prophecy deals with the Jewish nation in the 1st Century AD. [Romans 9:13; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Matthew 11:10; Luke 1:17, 78] It deals with the arrival of judgment upon the nation of Israel with the coming of “Elijah” and the horrendous destruction visited upon Jerusalem and Judea during the Roman wars with the Jews.
